  • Half of all Americans age 65 or older have prediabetes and are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes.
  • People with prediabetes are likely to develop type 2 diabetes within 10 years, unless they act to prevent or delay the disease.

The Good News

You can reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes and gain tools for healthy living.

If you are at risk for type 2 diabetes, the Fetter Health Care Network Diabetes Prevention Program provides a supportive environment where you can work with others in a small group setting to learn how healthy eating, physical activity and other behavior changes can reduce your chances of developing the disease.

To Qualify

  • Participants must be at least 18 years of age
  • No previous diagnosis
  • Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) at or above 24 (BMI ≥ 22 for Asian individuals)
  • Be at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes.

Am I at Risk?

To qualify for the Fetter’s Diabetes Prevention Program, participants must have a blood value in the following range:

  • Hemoglobin A1c level between 5.7-6.4%, or
  • Fasting Plasma Glucose between 100-125 mg/dL, or
  • 2-hour Plasma Glucose between 140-199 mg/dL
