Welcome to the Fetter Health Care Network. It is our privilege to be your health care provider.
We are a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) chartered as a 501c3 non-profit in the State of South Carolina in 1975. Community leaders including U.S. Senator Ernest “Fritz” Hollings, State Senator Herbert U. Fielding, Rev. Joseph Grant, Mr. J. Arthur Brown and Dr. Franklin C. Fetter, Dean of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) founded the organization as part of a demonstration grant under MUSC in 1967.
Fetter is equally committed to providing comprehensive services for all populations including the insured, uninsured, underinsured and underserved alike, while accepting all forms of payment. With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, more than ever health centers are vital as more individuals are now seeking a quality, comprehensive medical home for their primary health care.
A distinct feature of Fetter as a FQHC is that it is governed by a Board of Directors representing the community – patients, civic leaders, as well as the health care providers working within the organization. The Board ensures that the specific health care needs of our community are being addressed. The daily management of the Network is bestowed to an Executive Director and a highly competent, interdisciplinary healthcare team comprised of more than 120 physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other allied health professionals, while ensuring multiple mechanisms are in place to guarantee the highest quality of care.
Today Fetter Health Care Network has eight different sites, a Dental practice, medical labs at each site and a Pharmacy all serving residents throughout Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, and Dorchester Counties.
To deliver timely, comprehensive and quality health services with dignity and respect regardless of a person’s ability to pay; foster partnerships with community providers to enhance the health of the region; and advocate for policies which promote and protect the physical, mental and social well-being of the communities we serve.
As an integral part of the health care safety net, Fetter will be recognized locally, regionally and nationally as a progressive model of health care that works to eliminate health disparities and enhance population health by providing access to comprehensive, quality driven, evidence based, patient centered health care that is financially sustainable.
