Fetter Health Care Network (FHCN), a Federally Qualified Health Center in partnership with Berkeley and Charleston County Municipalities and Government, operates a free mobile COVID-19 Respiratory Collection Test Site in both counties. Same-day testing is available; however, individuals are highly encouraged to get screened before arriving for quicker service by visiting FetterCovid19screening.org or calling 1-800-365-7410.
Between Monday, May 4, 2020 and Sunday, May 17, 2020, FHCN reported that it administered 2,493 tests throughout Berkeley and Charleston Counties. The FQHC administered a total of 472 tests in Berkeley County with 33 confirmed positives. 2,021 tests were administered in Charleston County with three confirmed positives. 857 tests out of the 2,493 are still waiting on results.
“Our team has been on the frontlines of helping the community throughout this pandemic for several weeks now,” said Aretha R. Jones-Powers, CEO of Fetter Health Care Network. “We first initiated a testing site in Berkeley County have now expanded into Charleston and Dorchester Counties, we have had the opportunity to serve 2,493 patients, identifying 36 positive cases overall.”
The mobile testing sites have rotated throughout various communities within Berkeley and Charleston County and began serving Dorchester County on Monday, May 18, serving a new location each day. Individuals are asked to employ social distancing while waiting for testing and are requested to wear face coverings.
Individuals who have a known exposure to COVID-19 or are experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms can request a screening at FetterCovid19Screening.org or by calling 1-800-365-7410 to connect with a Fetter provider who will determine the need for testing. Tests will be given by appointments only and require a special, unique code. Although same-day testing will be available, individuals are highly encouraged to get screened before arriving for quicker service.
Currently, tests are given with no out-of-pocket cost to patients. All insurance providers in South Carolina are covering the cost of COVID-19 testing. Patient insurance information will be processed in order to complete testing. No co-pays or deductibles are being charged. All patients will be served if qualified for the test.
