Aretha R. Polite-Powers, DHA, MPH, MALPS
Chief Executive Officer
Our chief executive officer brings more than 20 years of experience in the not-for-profit, community-based health and human service organizations. She is responsible for a team of more than 145 professionals and oversees the operation of more than 20 health care sites, including primary care, dental, behavioral health, school-based, migrant and homeless programs dispersed among four counties.
SHARVETTE J. SLAUGHTER, MD, FAAP
Chief Medical Officer
Our chief medical officer is a board-certified pediatrician who has worked with the Fetter Health Care Network for the past 18 years. She is primarily responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the medical, behavioral health and Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs to include supervision of the providers, medical residents and dental team. She is instrumental in the design and implementation of new projects and innovations for the improvement of patient care.
Kevin Patel, MD
Medical Director
Our medical director, Dr. Kevin Patel, is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician who began with Fetter Health Care Network as a full-time provider and over the years took on various management roles, where his passion for improving health outcomes led him to be instrumental in advancing quality care initiatives, developing the clinical informatics program, and implementing new clinical projects, culminating in his appointment as medical director. This unique journey from provider to leader gives him a comprehensive understanding of our clinical operations, which he now uses to provide leadership and oversight to our provider team, oversee the expansion of medical, dental, and pharmacy services, and mentor medical residents, while instilling a standard of exceptional, patient-focused care throughout the organization.
DANA LAFORTE, APRN, NP
Chief Nursing and Quality Officer
Our chief nursing and quality officer, Ms. LaForte, brings more than 14 years of healthcare experience to Fetter Health Care Network. As chief nursing and quality officer, she manages and coordinates all clinical operations, programs and grant initiatives for the organization and oversees Fetter’s continuous improvement by ensuring mission, vision, value and goal alignment across all initiatives. Prior to this leadership role, Ms. LaForte supported Fetter patients as a family nurse practitioner at our Cross, SC, location.
Andrea M. Holmes, MSM
Director of Risk and Corporate Compliance
Our director of risk and corporate compliance, Ms. Holmes, brings more than 20 years of experience in social services and joined Fetter as a case manager. She has been instrumental in advancing programs that support vulnerable communities, including initiatives addressing homelessness, behavioral health, and access to care. Her journey from case manager to director was marked by key achievements, including launching Fetter’s first case management department, leading the effort to achieve and maintain Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) accreditation since 2018, and establishing the agency’s Procurement Department to drive cost savings. In her current role, this comprehensive experience informs her leadership and oversight of corporate compliance, risk management, FTCA accreditation, and contracting operations, while fostering a culture of compassionate advocacy and organizational excellence throughout the network.
DARRYL M. WARD, MBA
Director of Financial Services
Our Finance Director, Darryl M. Ward, brings more than a decade of financial management experience from both the nonprofit and healthcare sectors. As Finance Director, he manages and coordinates all financial operations, programs, and strategic planning for the organization and oversees Fetter’s financial health by ensuring mission and goal alignment across all initiatives. A key achievement of his leadership was the successful implementation of a new, automated general ledger system, which strengthened compliance and audit readiness and was foundational to the network achieving zero findings in its federal compliance review.
LATOYA D. HALL, MHA
Director of Practice Operations
Our Director of Practice Operations, LaToya D. Hall, brings over a decade of experience in healthcare leadership and operational management to Fetter Health Care Network. Her career in public health includes leadership roles with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) as Lead Nutritionist and Lowcountry Breastfeeding Coordinator, where she was recognized with the 2018 Lowcountry Breastfeeding Promotion for WIC Award. Since joining Fetter in 2018, LaToya has progressed from Outreach and Education Specialist to Practice Manager, playing a key role in improving site-level performance. In her current role, she oversees clinical support operations and strategic programs across the network, driving operational efficiency, ensuring compliance, and implementing initiatives that advance patient care while supporting Fetter’s mission, vision, and values. She holds a Master’s in Health Services Administration from Strayer University.
Coleen McCarthy-Cuffy
Director of Administrative Services
Our Director of Administrative Services, Coleen McCarthy-Cuffy, brings more than 20 years of diverse leadership experience in healthcare finance and administration from major organizations, including Northwell Health System and the Medical University of South Carolina. Her career journey—from financial analyst to overseeing operations for departments with over 300 employees—gives her a comprehensive understanding of healthcare administration. In her current role, this experience informs her leadership as she manages key administrative functions for Fetter Health Care Network. She aligns Human Resource initiatives with the mission to attract, develop, and retain top talent and oversees all network facilities, driven by a commitment to providing a safe environment that supports the delivery of quality healthcare for our community.
